Kaboutertje Garden & Faery Fort in Haarlem

Just 5 mins from our house in Haarlem not only have we discovered Pans statue  { check previous post } but also a beautiful Kaboutertje { Gnome } Garden.
Within the Garden for those who have the eyes to see there is a Faery fort and a perfect place to perform magic and summon the elementals .
These pictures were taken in the magical garden, i have edited them to give you a visual idea of what its actually like when the Fay open their realm to you and they begin to appear from the environment around us.
Look carefully and you may see them to

What is Magic

.The clearest and most concise understanding of what magic is from a modern perspective would be hard to find. In fact most of what Alan Moore has stated in the short video i would take as a Magical Manifesto and encourage all artists to engage consciously in their creations

A Day in the Life  III ~ The Sun of Broken Curses

A Day in the Life  III ~ The Sun of Broken Curses

We went to the Fay asking how to remove the chained curse that surrounded us. It had been placed there by the broken hearted, by the one who refused to see their shadow and who instead was consumed by it.
Again we came to the Oracle petitioning guidance from the Faery Folk, it was raining outside, the wind was shaking the walls of the small gypsy caravan. Our eyes closed we drew a card, it was the Sun, the image showing two Fay on a mountain peak greeting the golden light. Then a whisper in our ears ' To break something, first make something '.
Immediately we went to work baking a bread of bitter herbs, you went to the jars under the bed and took from one of them the dried crows heart, the one we had cut from the bird's chest as it lyed dying by the side of the road. We both spat on it then passed it all over our bodies, asking for the curses removal. Then carefully we placed it into the heart of the unbaked dough, now roughly crafted into a female form.

As the bread baked we sung songs to the grey weeping skies, harmonizing our intention and praying for light to shatter the grip of the shadows hand that had walked with us since our first meeting.
The black hearted crows bread nearly fully baked began to stink out our small space as the evil eye that had been placed on us began to spiral around and fully awaken within the breads female form. Holding our noses we opened the oven to see a large darkened eye staring back at us, ' cover it quickly ' i shouted. You immediately took the colourful bandana from your head and threw it over the now blinking eye of the bitter baked bread.
Picking it up with both hands i ran out with the cursed loaf into the woods behind the caravan and placed it quickly at the foot of an old Yew Tree. You running behind me sprinkling cascaria in a binding spell around it so it's poison could never return to us. Then as quickly as we had run out to the tree we ran back to the safety of our small home by the edge of the woods, looking through the window to watch what might happen.

It didn't take long for the crows to come swirling round in circles cawing loudly. We covered our eyes as they swooped down and clawing off the bandana began to peck at the evil eyed loaf that they had found underneath. We were sure in that moment that we heard a scream, not a loud one but instead a low and heart wrenching cry of agony. With our thumbs we plugged our ears hoping its sound not to return the wicked spell to us.
It seemed like ages that we sat there huddled together our hands over our eyes, thumbs in ears not daring to lift our heads and look up. Eventually i dared to take a peek and nudging you gently you to slowly looked above your slender fingers to the sight we beheld before us.
The cursed bread had been fully eaten the crows having cannibalistically  devoured the blackened heart of one of their own and all that was left was your bandana its colours now glimmering brightly as  sunlight shone through the darkened clouds onto the forest floor below.
In that moment we knew that all would well, that our banishing had worked and as the Fay had told us earlier that day, the sun would shine its golden light down upon us.

A Day in the Life II ~ The Faerie King

A Day in the Life II ~ The Faerie King

We sat together in tenderness whispering our desires to the oracle, you turned the cards over one by one and the Fay began to speak. ‘It’s the Garden that you seek is it? All well and good then, you must scribe your petition upon paper made from the mulberry tree and return once again to the sacred grove deep in the dunes. He’ll be waiting for you, it’s the King of the Faeries that you seek and his permission alone will assure a clear pathway to the garden's gate.’

Immediately we jumped into the car and drove back out to the sea and the faerie grove. On our way there we passed a very old antique store who’s hand painted sign, of what appeared to be the Green Man made us stop the car abruptly, intrigued by what we might find within. No sooner had we entered the musky smelling shop when I heard you shout ‘Look baby look! ‘. I wound my way through the narrow path of clustered antiques and found you holding a large bronze statue of Pan his gluttonous smile piercing through his floral beard.
Again we began to laugh hysterically, ‘He is with us! ‘. The man in the store appeared to go into a trance and sold us the piece for a mere ten euros. As we left the store a large black crow swooped down in front of us cawing loudly, ‘ don’t worry ‘ I said ‘ we are on our way, tell them we’re coming’ and with that he flew frantically up and away in the direction of the dunes.

Picture
Upon arriving at the coastline the atmosphere began to change, less playful, now more full of reverence. We had taken seven sweet coconut cakes to offer to Mother Ocean in thanks for previous prayers answered. No sooner had we sung to her and made our offerings than seven squawking seagulls swooped down from the heavens and gobbled them upon immediately. Our offerings obviously being accepted we marched off towards the dunes where beyond the sandy crown lay the sacred grove.
Picture

Dragonflies danced the whole way before us their metallic colours glistened in the light of the now setting sun. It didn’t take long till we were back at the weathered entrance to the grove, the dunes dipping down into a copse of trees hidden from sight just ten steps earlier. The trees formed a natural shade and made our entrance all the more magical.

In this twilight place we quietly found a spot to sit and pray. The crows cawed and a warm perfumed breeze brushed our cheeks as poems were spoken revering the Old Ones. Then all became silent, as if all magic had left us and only our fragile humanity remained. Humbled by the stilling silence we began to gently weep, knowing our true place in things.

                                                                       ‘I love you my queen’
                                                                       ‘ I love you my king ‘

and together we pledged our promise.

No sooner had we shared these words than it seemed as if all life returned all green magical and dancing with the season. The near silent music of the Fay passing between us, we drew our hearts together, embraced and gave our love to the earth at our feet, to those that danced invisible around us and to him that seldomly speaks the King of the Fay !

A Day in the Life I ~ The Faery Grove

The Faery Grove

We went out to the wild dunes near the ocean. Walking a sandy path we came upon a Faery grove, the windswept trees forming a natural arching gateway into their Kingdom.
We sat silently at the roots of an old tree, their magical presence surrounding us. We kissed and entered the bliss together, the Fays delicate wings fluttering around us, surrounding us in the last perfumed breeze of a dying summer. Autumn leaves sung their trembling songs as they fell at our feet like flakes of broken moonlight cascading into the coming twilight.
Picture
When the moment had passed we stood still holding hands and ran laughing from the grove, making sure not to return upon the path we had entered.
As the golden sun began his descent into the western skies we walked home through the dunes in a content quiet, the knowing flowing deep between us.
Then from nowhere on the horizon a large stag appeared with five deers. Rearing his head, his large antlers shining like glistened bronze with the failing light. We yelped with excitement as the small herd appeared before us. Oh such blessings showered upon us, that we should be honoured with the Stag Kings presence so soon after leaving the faeries grove.
Picture
Then in a moment they were gone prancing back beyond the horizon behind one of the many sand dunes.
Like children we ran holding hands into the sunset, following a trail of magic that can never escape us ...

The Kingdom

Picture
'All  initiated woman and men are gateways to the kingdom, where its keeper and protector
is the Horned King and at its heart the seething breasts of the Great Mother.
Yet we do not belong there, for we are made of other stuff.
The Great Art is not just to enter this Garden of Splendours,
or abide to long in the Kingdom of Creation, but instead to return unscathed, enthused,
back into the middle world  and to build a life upon it !'

St Dymphna ~ Patron of those that suffer severe depression & mental afflictions

St Dymphna
Patron Saint of those that suffer severe depression & mental afflictions

Picture
She is to be petitioned in times of deep depression, mental affliction and /or madness...

May her beauteous presence lift the afflicted's condition and bring rest to the soul and peace to the mind and spirit.

Nine day Novena

Offer a yellow candle, dressed in simple olive oil, { if you have it, also with black spruce oil } marked in 9 sections, light repeatedly every day for the full nine days. Also offer her any flowers that are pleasing to the eye and uplifting to the spirit.

Prayer to St Dymphna to be said every day before following petitions

Lord, our God, you graciously chose St. Dymphna as patroness of those afflicted with mental and nervous disorders. She is thus an inspiration and a symbol of charity to the thousands who ask her intercession.
Please grant, Lord, through the prayers of this pure youthful martyr, relief and consolation to all suffering such trials, and especially those for whom we pray. (Here mention those for whom you wish to pray).
We beg you, Lord, to hear the prayers of St. Dymphna on our behalf. Grant all those for whom we pray patience in their sufferings and resignation to your divine will. Please fill them with hope, and grant them the relief and cure they so much desire.
We ask this through Christ our Lord who suffered agony in the garden. Amen.

Day 1: For Faith
O God, Source of our salvation, in the midst of a pagan people, Thou didst enlighten St. Dymphna by the light of the true faith, which she professed under the guidance of her holy confessor, Gerebran, with such constance that she suffered martyrdom. Through the intercession of these two saints, we beg Thee to strengthen the faith which Thou hast given us, so that by wisely subjecting our souls to Thy Supreme Authority, and by faithfully conforming our lives according to our faith, we may honor Thee with our whole heart and soul until the hour of our death. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Pray the Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be five times

Day 2: For Hope
Almighty and infinitely good God, Thou hast promised eternal salvation to those who obey Thy commandments and make zealous use of Thy graces. Through the intercession of St. Dymphna, who fled from the danger of sin by leaving the palace of her father, and who, eager to gain eternal salvation, fled to Belgium to live in poverty, we beg Thee to grant that we also, who are striving for eternal happiness, may overcome all obstacles in the way of virtue and may attain eternal salvation. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Pray the Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be five times

Day 3: For Charity
God of love, Thou art the most perfect Being, and Creator of all that is good and beautiful. Through the intercession of St. Dymphna, who in her youth loved Thee above all creatures and for Thy sake loved her neighbor as herself, as the image and likeness of Thee, as the price of the Blood of Jesus and as co-heir of heaven, be pleased to help us by Thy powerful grace, that we may faithfully fulfill the two great commandments of charity not only in word, but in action and in truth. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Pray the Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be five times

Day 4: For Piety
God, Our Creator and Supreme Master, St. Dymphna served Thee with great zeal even in her childhood, by hearing Thy word with delight, by assisting at Holy Mass with fervent reverence, and by receiving Holy Communion from the hand of St. Gerebran with tender devotion. Through her intercession we beg Thee to grant us the same virtue of piety so that, having honored Thee during this life as our Creator, we may possess Thee hereafter as our final reward. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Pray the Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be five times

Day 5: For Prudence
O God, ruler of the universe, Thou didst allow St. Dymphna to discover a helpful means of avoiding the evil intentions of her father. Through the merits of Thy holy servant, be pleased to grant that we may become, according to the words of Jesus, simple as doves and wise as serpents, so that through prudent advice and sound judgment we may recognize what we must do to achieve the great work of our salvation. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Pray the Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be five times

Day 6: For Justice
O God, source of eternal justice, Thou didst inspire St. Dymphna to flee from her country and her father in order to render to Thee that which was Thine. Through her intercession we beg Thee to make us seek after justice so that we may perform our duties toward Thee as we ought. Though Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Pray the Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be five times

Day 7: For Fortitude
O God, rewarder of those who remain firm in their good resolutions, Thou gavest St. Dymphna such a love of virtue that she had the courage to suffer privation, persecution, and even martyrdom. Through her prayers we beg Thee to grant us fortitude that we may courageously and perseveringly overcome ourselves and finally conquer the enemy of our salvation. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Pray the Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be five times

Day 8: For Temperance
O God, You made St. Dymphna resplendent in the virtue of temperance so that she mastered sensual inclinations and used temporal goods prudently. With temperance she combined the beautiful virtues of modesty, docility and humility. Let us not forget that humility is called the foundation of all virtue because it banishes from the soul pride, the obstacle to grace. Through the intercession of St. Dymphna, we beg Thee to guide and direct us, so that being preserved from evil and nervous disorders, we may obey till death the commandments and counsels Thou hast given us. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Pray the Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be five times

Day 9: For Chastity
O God, lover of innocent souls, Thou gavest St. Dymphna the virtue of angelic purity which made her reserved in all her actions, modest in her dress, attentive in her conversation, upright in her character, so that she even shed her blood to preserve this precious virtue. Through the intercession of St. Dymphna, we beg thee to bestow upon us the virtue of chastity that we may enjoy peace of conscience in this life and pure eternal joys of heaven hereafter. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Pray the Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be five times
